Whew, it's been a long week, time sure does flies when we wished it last doesn't it?
Anyway my mom been nagging me to make a pizza, because recently she bought a package of frozen pizza crust. And let me tell you, even though it's very convenient to use a ready-made pizza crust, it's doesn't look appetizing (for me) and making your own dough is not hard anyway, so why don't we just make our own pizza dough??
Let's get on to the recipe!
Pizza Dough
(Got this recipe from allthecooks with a bit of modification)
Ingredients:
1 2/4 cups lukewarm water (around 40°C or 100°F) -- original recipe 1 1/2 cups of lukewarm water
1 packages yeast
4 1/4 cups shifted flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar (you can substitute this with honey)
2 tbsp olive oil -- I don't use this
Directions:
1. Make sure the water isn't too hot, you can check it with the inside of your wrist, neutral temperature is ideal for blooming yeast.
2. Cast yeast into warm water, add salt, sugar, and 2 cups of shifted flour. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the remaining flour and knead until the dough is elastic. If the dough is still too sticky, add more flour as needed.
4. Shape the dough into balls, I usually shape the balls enough for one pizza.
5. Grease bowl with cooking spray, transfer the balls into the bowl, cover with damp washcloth or plastic warp.
6. Allow to rise in a warm environment for about 1 hour until doubled in volume.
7. You can freeze the dough for future use.
Done! As easy as pie,, ;D
As for the content of the pizza, the sky is the limit! Try your own variations. Here's some of mine..
Pizza Sauce
(It doesn't taste much, but after you bake it, it's very delicious!)
Ingredients:
2 tbsp chili sauce
3 1/2 tbsp tomato sauce or tomato paste
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp parsley
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp sugar
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients, try to taste it, if it's too hot for you, you can add more tomato sauce/paste and sugar, if it's too thick, you can add water as needed.
Tuna & Salmon Pizza
Ingredients:
A can of canned tuna
A can of canned salmon
A can of canned corn
Pizza dough
Pizza sauce
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 210°C or 410°F.
2. In a lightly floured board, roll out the pizza dough with a rolling pin, fold a bit of the edge and lightly press it. Let it rise for about 10 minutes.
3. Spread the pizza sauce and canned corn on top of the pizza dough.
4. On the left half of the pizza, spread a canned tuna, and on the right half of the pizza spread a canned salmon.
5. Sprinkle the top of the pizza generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
6. Bake the pizza for 15-20 minutes.
