Manga I Read 01

I love good book, almost every kind of books, be it a novel, comic book, manga, manhua, manhwa, dictionary, encyclopedia, etc. Some may think I'm strange for liking dictionary, but I do, I found dictionary interesting. I have various dictionary in my collection, mostly it's English-Indonesian or English-English, I also have Japanese-Indonesian and Mandarin-Indonesian. It's natural, since I like vocabulary better than grammar. Actually I don't like grammar. My Indonesian language exam is the worst when I'm in high school. I'm Indonesian, but I only got 76 points (if I remember correctly) for my Indonesian language national exam, and 98 points for the English language exam, strange eh? But I believe most of us won't get a high score for our own mother language exam, my reason is because we usually use our language informally that when we have to use it formally, we have some difficulties. At last I think that's why for me.

Anyway, Here is some manga that I read and a bit of their story.

1. Naruto by Kishimoto Masashi [On Going]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Martial Arts, Shounen
Story: Naruto is a ninja from the hidden leaf village, he's a joker and prankster. He don't have friends because the parent of his peers is forbidding their child to have any form of contact with Naruto. The parents know that the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox who attacked their village twelve years ago is sealed within Naruto. The children, seeing their parents aversion to Naruto isolated him. But Naruto is a high-spirited boy and he is very hard-working. His utmost ambition is to become a Hokage and have the villagers recognize him. This is the story of his adventure to become the best Hokage.

Ok, who don't know this manga? I mean even those who don't read manga knows Naruto. It's globally recognized as one of the most favorite manga in the world. And I read this manga from way back, before it's become a hit. I don't recommend this for those who don't like a long story, because, honestly I don't know when this story will end, and I don't know if I want this to end either..

2. Bleach by Kubo Tite [On Going]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Martial Arts, Shounen
Story: For as long as he remember, Kurosaki Ichigo alway able to see spirits. One day he see something he never saw before, a shinigamin, Kuchiki Rukia. When he tries to help the shinigami, he absorb her power instead. He have to beat a hollow that threaten his family instead of Rukia, because the power of the shinigami is in his body now.

This is also a well-known manga. This manga have their ups and down, some of the arc is very interesting, while the other not so much. But overall, this is an interesting read. I don't recommend this for those who don't like a long story either. I suspect this manga will be a rather long series.

3. Detective Conan by Aoyama Gosho [On Going]
Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Mystery, Martial Arts, Romance, School Life, Shounen
Story: Kudo Shinichi is a very accomplished high school boy. He's smart and athletic, but his forte is observation and deduction. His claims to be a great detective. One day he and his childhood friend, Mouri Ran go for a date, he is caught and drugged by mysterious organization. The drug is supposed to kill him without leaving a trace of being poisoned, but it turns him into a elementary child instead. Even though his body become small, his mind is still of a high school boy. In order to get back his body and capture the organization that turns him into a kid, he hide the truth and adopt a new name, Edogawa Conan and live with Ran, whose father is a Detective, Mouri Kogoro.

Another well-known manga. I admit that the story of this book has been dragged for too long already. And we don't even have a clue when it will end. When we thought that the ending is near, there'll always a new villains comes up, or a new case happening. I enjoy the story, but I won't recommend this for those who don't like long story.

4. Psyren by Iwashiro Toshiaki [Completed]
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Mystery, Psychological, Romance, Sci-fi. Shounen, Supernatural
Story: The story follows Yoshina Ageha, a high school boy who is a bit concerned about Amamiya Sakurako A.K.A the "Ice Queen". One day he is chosen by Nemesis Q as a participant in the Psyren game. Bewildered and confused, he meet Amamiya in the Psyren world, and  she taught him how to survive in this world.

One of my most favorite manga. It's already completed, so I highly recommend this. It have 146 chapter, or about 16 volumes. May be a bit long, but the story is very interesting. The first couple chapter is not very interesting, but as the story goes on, it's becomes more interesting.

That's all for now, see you in the next post.
